AngII in blood is produced from angiotensinogen via renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). It works via binding to specific receptors present on cell membranes. AngII is a component of the renin-angiotensin system. It is associated with vasoconstriction, induction of vascular smooth muscle cell growth, stimulation of protooncogene expression, modulation of myocardial hypertrophy, renal failure and fibrosis.
