Details

The Bell in Vacuum Experiment is a classic physics demonstration that uses an audible buzzer in a vacuum to show how sound waves require a medium through which to travel. This experiment is a great way for students to learn about the properties and dependencies of mechanical waves. The set includes an acrylic bell jar, a rubber stopper fitted with lead plugs, and an electric buzzer. As air is removed from the closed system inside the bell jar, the sound of the buzzer becomes proportionately fainter. To conduct the experiment, a vacuum plate, vacuum pump, and 3-6V DC power source are required but not supplied. Size of bell jar: 10"H x 5.7" dia.
