This desiccator maintains a full vacuum at room temperature for 24 hours and remains airtight even when not under vacuum. It is autoclavable. A common use for desiccators is to protect chemicals that are hygroscopic or react with water from humidity. They are used for preserving moisture-sensitive items. The desiccator features a clear polycarbonate top on a chemical-resistant white polypropylene bottom. An internal groove on the flange holds a silicone rubber O-ring. It is fitted with a polypropylene stopcock featuring a self-lubricating PTFE plug, allowing controlled entrance of air and preventing unnecessary turbulence. The 'Flat Dome' design includes a large ribbed knob that maximizes interior clearances.
