The Rat Growth Hormone ELISA Kit quantifies rat growth hormone in serum, plasma, buffered solution, or cell culture medium. The assay will recognize both the natural and recombinant growth hormone. Principle of the method The rat growth hormone solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen. Rigorous validation Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.Human growth hormone (hGH) is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The GH1 gene, along with 4 additional related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing results in 5 isoforms ranging from approximately 19 kDa to 24 kDa. HGH is produced by the somatotroph cells in the pituitary. It acts through binding to membrane receptors that belong to the cytokine receptor subfamily. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues. Mutations or deletions in the gene lead to growth hormone deficiency and short stature.Order InfoShipping Condition: Room Temperature
