Details
Specifications Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a widely used organic solvent. On long term storage it forms organic peroxides. This process can be suppressed by adding butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) as a stabilizer. BHT removes the free radicals required for the peroxide formation. The effect of THF on the biological systems has been studied.Synonyms: THF; Butylene oxide; Oxolane; Tetramethylene oxideMolecular Formula: C4H8OMolecular Weight: 72.11Linear Structural Formula: C4H8OMDL Number: MFCD00005356Purity: >=99.0%Melting Point: -108 C (lit.)Density: 0.889 g/mL at 25 C (lit.)Refractive Index: n20/D 1.407 (lit.)Application: Tetrahydrofuran (THF) was used as a solvent in the following processes: •RAFT (Reversible Addition-Fragmentation chain Transfer) polymerization of p-acetoxystyrene. •Synthesis of di-tert-butyl-phosphinoferrocene. •Synthesis of n-TiO2-based amphiphilic polymer brushes. •To dissolve the LiCl from the Mg2Si nanoparticles. It may be used in the following studies: •As an O-donor ligand to form coordination complexes. •As mobile phase solvent in high-performance liquid chromatography. •As a solvent in the preparation of spin-coated poly(bisphenol A decane ether). •Synthesis of THF doped hydrogen clathrate hydrates.Other Notes: Go to our Greener Alternative-2-Methyl Tetrahydrofuran - 155810Go to our Greener Alternative-Cyclopentyl methylether - 675989Signal Word: DangerHazard statements: H225-H319-H335-H351Precautionary statements: P210-P261-P281-P305 P351 P338Supplemental Hazard Statements: May form explosive peroxides.Hazard Codes (Europe) : F,XnRisk Statements (Europe): 11-19-36/37-40Safety Statements (Europe): 13-16-29-33-36-37-46WGK Germany: 1
